Crime of attacking members of Security Forces
Shaykh Saalih bin Humayyid [(Safar 26, 1425 (April 16, 2004)]
All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the
worlds. Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.
Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah as He should be feared. Whoever fears Allaah, Allaah
will elevate him to the highest position of truth. It is fear of Allaah the
guard man against calamities and the Hereafter is only for those who fear Allaah.
Competed with each other for high positions and fight your baser souls. Allaah
says,
"Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse
(different in aims and purposes). As for him who gives (in charity), and keeps
his duty to Allaah and fears Him, And believes in Al-Husnâ. We will make smooth
for him the path of ease (goodness)."
(Allayl 92:4-7)
Fellow Muslims! Our country is the land of Islaam and land of the Sacred
Mosques. It is rich in values and industrious men. Our productivity and security
anger the troublemakers, and our strength and mutual cooperation cause malicious
people sleepless nights. Our reliance on the Lord of this House drives away the
evils of the evil planners and the protection of Allaah and then the wisdom of
our rulers disappoint the evil-wishers.
This country is the base of Islaam, the fortress of Eemaan and stronghold of
propagating the Word of Allaah. It was in this land that the Qur’aan was
revealed; and the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him,
was sent from here. Our government is one that adheres to Islaam in its belief
and laws. Allaah gave it the honour of ruling and serving the two Sacred Cities.
We are saying all this, not out of sentiment. This is rather the real situation.
This is because; it is narrated in the hadeeth, the one who join the tie of
kinship, helps the distressed, fetches for the destitute, takes care of the
guests and helps the causes of the truth will never be disappointed by Allaah.
it is also a fact that he who has many good deeds to his credit, he will have a
good ending by the permission of Allaah, Allaah will guard him in the this world
and the Hereafter and He will protect him and his family. We are therefore sure
that we shall have the happy ending and that the evil planning of the enemies
will not harm us.
Dear brethren! When one considers changes that our time is undergoing, the
crises that abound everywhere and the enemies' concerted effort to attack this
Ummah, one will conclude that no true Muslim who wish his brethren well will
deliberately or obliviously turn himself to a tool in the hands of his enemies,
thereby declaring his fellow Muslims as infidels or heretics and killing
innocent souls.
The recent attack against our brethren, who are men of security forces, is
undoubtedly a sinful and a heinous act. The perpetrators of this crime have
combined between killing innocent souls and killing their own selves. The
Messenger of Allaah said, “A faithful believer remains at liberty regarding his
religion unless he kills somebody unlawfully.” (Al-Bukhaaree)
Allaah says,
"And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his
recompense is Hell to abide therein; and the Wrath and the Curse of Allaah are
upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him."
(An-Nisaa 4:93)
Allaah's Messenger said, "The Muslim shall remain free under the protection of
Islaam as long as he does not shed an inviolable blood."
"The extinction of this world is lesser with Allaah than killing a Muslim man."
(An-Nasaaee)
This crime is certainly tantamount to causing mischief in the land, terrorising
the believers and innocent people and rebelling against the leader of the
Muslim. It is an evil act that can cause crises, bigotry, and wastage of efforts
and energies. It can also delay the path to reform, weaken the call to the way
of Allaah and open the door to conflicts.
These evil acts breed nothing but crises. They cause backwardness, open door for
wars and might even cause external interventions. These acts should therefore be
condemned, rejected and regarded as forbidden. Let him who wants good for
himself and wants to protect himself from Satanic insinuations not see falsehood
as truth.
Brethren in faith! It well-known that the Khawaarij are a people who perform
much acts of worship. Piety shows in their appearance as indicated by the
Prophetic when he said, "You will scorn your prayer when you compare it to
theirs. They read the Qur'aan but it never goes beyond their throats." These
Khawaarij appeared during the best generation of the Muslims, which is the time
of the companions of Allaah's Messenger. These misguided elements went as far as
waging war on the companions of the Prophet and other Muslims. They even killed
the two guided Khaleefahs 'Uthmaan and 'Alee.
Was it not enough a crime that the Khawaarij should commit crime against the
companions of the Prophet, declare them as kaafirs and fight them? The Khawaarij
were somewhat enthusiastic and sincere, but they had no true knowledge or deep
understanding. They fought the Prophet's companions and killed the righteously
guided Caliphs thinking that this was the proper way of effecting reform.
Fellow Muslims! Some of the major causes of deviation are ignorance and
isolation from the society, lack of learning knowledge from able scholars,
family negligence and arrogance.
Exaggeration is also a great cause of deviation. Exaggeration in the religion of
Allaah is a great cause of destruction. The Messenger of Allaah said, "Beware of
exaggeration, for it destroyed those who were before you."
Exaggeration directly contradicts the guidance of Islaam. It is a deviation from
the just path of Islaam, mercy, ease and kindness. It is an act of injustice to
self and others and it blocks the way to the religion of Allaah, because it
defames Islaam and scares people away. Exaggerators blindly adhere to their
group and regard it as the source of good. They exaggerate in their reverence of
their leaders, they denounce Muslim societies, believe that committing sins is
tantamount to kufr, declare Muslims and their leaders as kaafirs, encourage
revolt against Muslim leaders and keep away from Muslim societies and denounce
them. They even do not pray behind Muslim leaders in Muslim countries.
The Messenger of Allaah aptly described them with two dangerous attributes when
he said, "They read the Qur'aan but it does not go beyond their throats. They
kill the Muslims and leave out the idol worshippers." They have two main
characteristics:
One: They read the Qur'aan but do not understand it and they do not realize its
goals. 'Abdullaah bin 'Umar said, "They take verses that were revealed
concerning the kaafirs and apply them to Muslims.”
Two: Killing Muslims "they kill Muslims and leave out idol worshippers". Shaykh
Al-Islaam said, "They declare those who commit sins as kaafirs and this lead to
declaring their lives and properties as violable and turning the land of Islaam
to that of kufr and turning the land of kufr to land of Islaam." Aboo Qalaabah
said, "If a man introduces an innovation, he unsheathes the sword." They combine
between their ignorance of Allaah's religion with and doing injustice to
Muslims. These two are indeed, great sins."
The fate of exaggerators is perdition according to the saying of Allaah's
Messenger, "The exaggerators are perished! The exaggerators are perished! The
exaggerators are perished!"
Brethren in faith! All methods of violence and terrorism do not any way
represent good virtues, as they do not produce any good results. Violence and
terrorism cannot liberate any people, impose any ideology or help the cause of
any political party. Violence and terrorism cannot be a respected law or an
accepted way much less a religious belief.
Violence and terrorism produce nothing but destruction and corruption. They have
never succeeded anywhere in the world. Terrorism can never change any policy or
win any sympathy. It only exposes the hostile and bloody nature of its
adherents.
One can notice the unified stand that this nation takes against this criminal
act. The country stands united behind its leaders in condemning this heinous act
and rejecting any justification for it. No justification should be accepted for
these crimes. Their perpetrators should be castigated.
By the grace of Allaah, this country shall never be affected by any kind of
threats or provocations aimed at its Islaamic values or its policies or leaders.
This Ummah has confidence in its steps and shall continue to remain on those
constructive steps with forbearance and deliberateness.
Fellow Muslims! This country was built upon strong foundations of Islaamic
religion and sound knowledge. It is these foundations helped the people of this
country preserve of their religion and, at the same time, update their
educational, economical and social systems.
A country with the above-mentioned characteristics cannot mix real Islaam with
deviations, as it can never condone any attack against Islaam because of the
excesses of some extremists. The policy of this country goes against abnormal
behaviours, so that Islaam will remain the religion of the truth.
These incidences are odd and they shall remain in their oddity. Let the
inhabitants of this country be assured of their safety and the safety of their
properties and rights. Citizens, residents and friends of this nation are
looking forward to its further adherence to Islaam, as they are ready to give
more support to those who work to preserve and uphold the injunctions of this
noble religion.
Dear Muslims! Ours is a great responsibility and we are all in the same ship. If
anybody makes a hole in it, all will drown. Carelessness and negligence only
lead to uncontrolled anarchy. It is this sense of responsibility that should
lead all wise people into rejecting these erroneous acts and any justifications
for it. The impacts of these acts should also be exposed.
The Muslim should beware lest he utters or does anything that can cause crises
or make the perpetrators of this crime feel that their acts and errors are
justified. The Muslim must also have a certain belief that Allaah will protect
His religion, give victory to His Word and make the evil plans of the enemies
fruitless.
Fellow Muslims! The responsibility is undoubtedly great. We should therefore
place things in their proper position. Islaam is one thing and the crime is
another. Reform is the opposite of mischief, and bothering Muslims and violating
the sacred are not acts of sacrifice or Jihaad. Allaah says,
"And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you
(O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) in this worldly life, and he calls Allaah to
witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome of the
opponents. And when he turns away (from you "O Muhammad (peace be upon him)"),
his effort in the land is to make mischief therein and to destroy the crops and
the cattle, and Allaah likes not mischief."
(Al-Baqarah 2:204-205)
Fellow Muslims! These sinful attacks and irresponsible actions shall never
prevent our brothers, members of security forces from carrying on their duties
with all sincerity and perfection. This is because; they are sure that they are
upon the truth and guidance by the permission of Allaah. Through their
alertness, this country shall remain protected in its service for Islaam through
blessings from Allaah.
Men of security forces are undoubtedly a source of pride in protecting the land
of the two Sacred Mosques. They are by the grace of Allaah the guards of the
religion. They shall remain upon our heads and a source of peace and
tranquillity.
Dear Muslims! Facing these erroneous people is not the responsibility of the
security men alone. It is rather the responsibility of all. Sensing a threat to
the religion, our families and our lands and feeling of anarchy and disunity is
something that all of us should have. Let us all increase in alertness. Let our
actions regarding the problems faced by this Ummah be characterized with
understanding and wisdom.
In spite of all this, let the citizens and residents of this country be assured
of the safety of lives and properties. Let the Muslims be assured of the
understanding and alertness of their leaders in situations that need nothing
less than force and resolution.
Nevertheless, we thank Allaah and praise Him for His innumerable blessings. He
united us upon the truth, He endowed with hidden and apparent blessings and He
made us followers of one religion. We beseech Him to increase us in security,
stability, favour, uprightness and success.
