Kill not one another
Shaykh Usamah Al Khayyat [(Rabee'ul Awwal 18, 1425 (May 07, 2004)]

All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the
worlds. Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.
Fellow Muslims! One of Allaah's greatest favours upon the believers is that He
gave them sure knowledge about their religion, about His Book and about the
Sunnah of His Messenger. He also endowed them with natural intelligence by which
they can differentiate between truth and falsehood and between guidance and
error. That is why the true believer respect the limits set by Allaah and go
back to the path of truth whenever they err.
At the opposite of these are others whose evil deeds were made fair-seeming to
them and whose efforts were lost in this worldly life while they think that they
are doing good deeds. These individuals cause mischief in the land and they
claim that they are reformers.
Allaah explains the difference these two groups when He says,
"Is he who is on a clear proof from his Lord, like
those for whom their evil deeds that they do are beautified for them, while they
follow their own lusts (evil desires)?"
(Muhammad 47:14)
Some of the evil deeds that these deviant elements thought to be good deeds are
the repulsive criminal acts that occurred in Riyadh, the capital of this blessed
country and those that followed it in Yanbu and other painful attacks that
occurred before these that are troubling to the wise people and in which
innocent people were killed and properties destroyed. How can these criminal
acts agree with Allaah's word that goes thus,
"And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his
recompense is Hell to abide therein; and the Wrath and the Curse of Allaah are
upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him."
(An-Nisaa 4:93)
Where does the perpetrator of these crimes stand regarding the admonition of the
Prophet of mercy that goes thus, "Indeed, your blood, property and honour are
sacred to one another (i.e. Muslims) like the sanctity of this day of yours, in
this month of yours and in this city of yours. O Allaah, Haven't I conveyed Your
Message to them?' Ibn Abbaas added, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the
following was his will (Prophet's will) to his followers: 'Beware don't turn
into disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another [i.e. killing one
another].'" (Al-Bukhaaree)
If the wise men are
widely known to be so keen to implement the will of their dead relatives, the
will of Allaah's Messenger deserves to be implemented with more keenness. Allaah
describes the Prophet as follows,
"Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad (peace be upon him)) from
amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should
receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad (peace be upon him)) is anxious
over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allaah, and beg Him to pardon and
forgive your sins, in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the
punishment of the Hell-fire); for the believers (he peace be upon him is) full
of pity, kind, and merciful."
(At-Tawbah 9:128)
Does his will not deserve to be taken care of and practically implemented? Is
this will not a religious act by which we worship Allaah? Allaah commands us,
"And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad (peace be upon him)) gives you, take it;
and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)."
(Al-Hashr 59:7)
Then who are going to benefit from these criminal acts? Are they Muslims or
enemies of Islaam? Did the perpetrators achieved anything be these acts? How can
a sane person become a willing tool in the hands of his enemies and the enemies
of his country and Ummah achieving for them what they want while they sitting
down safely elsewhere?
Brethren in faith! It is the obligation of every Muslim who is wary of the Last
Day and fears his Lord to raise his voice in condemning and rejecting these acts
because they are forbidden by the Qur'aan and the Sunnah. They are an attack
against Allaah and a violation of His sanctities. They are acts of aggression
against His slaves and they are acts of mischief that Allaah has forbidden and
which He tells us that He abhors.
Those involved in these filthy acts should return to Allaah in repentance before
it is too late.
Dear brethren! The fortunate is the one who draws lessons from others, keeps
himself away from all that could lead him to the path of Satan and listen to the
voice of the Qur'aan that call all believers to salvation. Allaah says,
"O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islaam (by obeying all the rules and
regulations of the Islaamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitân
(Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy. Then if you slide back after the
clear signs (Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and this Qur'aan, and Islaam)
have come to you, then know that Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise."
(Al-Baqarah 2:208-209)
Fellow Muslims! If upholding unity, shunning discord and holding fast unto the
Rope of Allaah [the Qur'aan] are Allaah's general and comprehensive commandments
that transcend all times and places, they become more emphatic in times of
calamities and hardships. Implementing these commandments in times like this
helps to confront the dangers, repel the hostilities and douse the fire of the
crises.
Exert all efforts to maintain the causes of unity and remain united against this
disastrous danger. Shun arguments and work instead for no nation went astray
after they had been rightly guided except through their preoccupation with
arguments and abandonment of deeds, according to the saying of Allaah's
Messenger.
Beware of giving priority to personal desires and inclinations and interests
over interests of the religion and nation. This is a trust that brings success
to whoever fulfils it and fear Allaah regarding it.
