Murder of a great Daa'iyah and Mujahid
Shaykh Usamah Al Khayyat [(Safar 05, 1425 (March 26, 2004)]

All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the
worlds. Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.
Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah and be dutiful to Him. Seek nearness to Him by
believing in His Oneness, remembering Him, thanking Him, worshipping Him as He
should be worshipped and surrendering to His judgment.
Brethren in faith! A life ended in righteousness is a goal that every wise
Muslim yearns to achieve. This is because; death is the end that Allaah has
written down for every living thing. Allaah says,
"Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish. And the
Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honor will remain forever."
(Ar-Rahmaan 55:26-27)
Allaah also says while addressing His beloved Messenger Muhammad, blessings and
peace be upon him,
"And We granted not to any human being immortality
before you (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) then if you die, would they live
forever?"
(Al-Anbiyaa 21:34)
It is this inevitable end that prompts the wise people to seek to conclude the
sheets of their deeds with the most honourable and righteous actions; because
they always remember the saying of Allaah's Messenger that goes thus, "Man will
be raised [on the Day of Resurrection] with the act upon which he died."
(Muslim)
It is therefore, in the light of this that a Muslim must sacrifice for his
religion and his Lord with sincerity and in accordance with the guidance of
Allaah's Messenger. There is no doubt that the utmost sacrifice one can make is
with one's soul. It is because of this that martyrdom in the way of Allaah
occupies the eminent position that Allaah explains in His following words,
"Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allaah
as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision. They
rejoice in what Allaah has bestowed upon them of His Bounty and rejoice for the
sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind (not yet
martyred) that on them no fear shall come, nor shall they grieve. They rejoice
in a Grace and a Bounty from Allaah, and that Allaah will not waste the reward
of the believers."
(Aal 'Imraan 3:169-171)
It is not therefore, strange that many righteous people are martyred throughout
the history of this Ummah in order attain the reward that the martyrs are
promised.
Shaykh Ahmad Yasin, whose death was a loss to those who propagate Islaam and
those who fight in the way of Allaah, was one of those who strove with words and
deeds to achieve this martyrdom. We deem him so, though the final decision in
and the absolute knowledge about that belongs to Allaah.
Dear brethren! The heinous criminal that claimed the life of this quadriplegic
man is another evidence of acts of terrorism that are performed every day on the
land of Palestine under the guise of a right to defend. If the transgressor, the
usurper has this right, where then is the right of the oppressed whose land was
seized, whose holy places were desecrated, whose blood was shed and whose
children were expelled? Doesn't he has right to defend himself? Where are the
so-called human rights in all this? Do these fundamental human rights not apply
to the Muslim children of Palestine? Is there then any credibility in the much
publicised justice, prevalence of the rule of law and other slogans that the
so-called advocates of human rights make?
Dear brethren! Let every Muslim who is sad about this heinous crime and others
before it not forget that, it is part of Allaah's wonderful plan to give respite
to the oppressor so that he could increase in sins and evil deeds. After that He
seizes him so forcefully that he would not be able to escape. Allaah's Messenger
said, "Allaah gives respite to an oppressor, but when He seizes him, He never
releases him." The Prophet then recited the word of Allaah:
"Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the
(population of) the towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is
painful, (and) severe."
(Hood 11:102)
This is a clear sign about Allaah's firm plan. He says,
"And I respite them; certainly My Plan is strong."
(Al-A'raaf 7:183)
And about these criminals, Allaah tells the truth when He says,
"He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the
people of the ure (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Banî An-Nadîr) from their homes
at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they
thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allaah! But Allaah's
(Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast
terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their
own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes
(to see)."
(Al-Hashr 59:2)
Fellow Muslims! Preaching patience during calamities does not mean encouraging
pessimism or negligence in doing what should be done. It is rather a response to
the command of Allaah. He tells His Prophet,
"And endure you patiently (O Muhammad (peace be upon
him)) your patience is not but from Allaah. And grieve not over them
(polytheists and pagans), and be not distressed because of what they plot."
(An-Nahl 16:127)
He also commands him saying,
"Therefore be patient (O Muhammad) as did the
Messengers of strong will and be in no haste about them (disbelievers)."
(Al-Ahqaaf 46:35)
Being patience and persevering in times of trials is also a sign of belief in
the oneness of Allaah and belief in His pre-decree. Bearing calamities with
patience saddens the enemy and defeats Satan and his whisperings. It strengthens
the heart and brings about reward. Allaah says,
"Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards
in full, without reckoning."
(Az-Zumar 39:10)
Brethren in faith! The Muslim is always in good situation in ease and
difficulty. Allaah's Messenger said, "The matter of the believer is wonderful!
For all his affairs are good and that is for none but the believer alone. If he
is blessed with prosperity, he thanks Allaah and that is good for him and when
he is afflicted with hardship, he is patient and that is also good for him.
